Facebook has partnered with five internet security firms to provide users with access to full version antivirus software free for six months.

Microsoft, McAfee, TrendMicro, Sophos, and Symantec can now all be downloaded in full from the AV Marketplace.

The five security companies will add their URL blacklist databases to Facebook’s own system so that users will be protected by the combined intelligence blacklists of the security industry.

Facebook’s URL blacklist system, which already scans trillions of clicks per day, will now incorporate the malicious URL databases from these companies.

This means that whenever you click a link in Facebook, it will be checked against Facebook’s blacklist, and also the blacklists from Microsoft, McAfee, TrendMicro, Sophos, and Symantec.
