Webwise knows that it can be a threatening and scary moment for you when your child takes that first step online.
Indeed, if you don’t know your hashtag from your tweet, or your lol from your ttyl, we feel your pain.
But don’t fear because the National Parents Council Primary (NPC) in collaboration with Webwise run extensive internet safety seminars which will demystify the net for you.
The seminars, which you can organise for your child’s school, are run by a trained NPC facilitator, who we assure you is on top of the latest fads and trends doing the school rounds.
But that’s not all. The classes will also help you get involved with your child’s internet use.
During the seminar, you will be given hands on, practical demonstrations of the latest technology children are accessing.
You will be given an insight into the main concerns surrounding children's internet use and will also be introduced to techniques to help your child be responsible online.
There are risks associated with the internet. Nobody disputes that. Popular websites like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube all have resulted in content finding its way online that no one wants.
But, for us, the positives of the internet, which is one of the greatest educational tools created, far outweigh the negatives.
