Sample Acceptable Use Policies
Unsure of how to develop your school’s Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)? Don’t fear. Here, we list some prime examples of AUP documents, related permissions slips and AUP checklists.
You can download these versions, but remember, you will need to tweak and change the AUPs to suit your school’s needs.
AUPs are vital documents which ensure safe internet use in schools.
It is also worth pointing out that none of the documents published here constitute legal advice. If you do need legal assistance contact your legal representatives.
Below, is our AUP guide, the Webwise AUP Guidelines. It will give you some guidance in putting together a good AUP, and also has a sample AUP, permission slip, checklist, and other sample correspondence.

There are many schools, both primary and post primary, which have already implemented successful AUPs.
Blackrock College and the St. Colmcille Community College in Knocklyon are both secondary schools which have publicly posted their AUPs.
At primary level, Scoil Naomh Sheosaimh, in Galway, and the Mother of Divine Grace Primary School in Ballygall in Dublin, have useful examples of AUPs.
