Webwise 2006 Survey of Children's Use of the Internet
This publication contains the executive summary of a large-scale survey of children’s use of the Internet in Ireland. The NCTE carried out this survey in order to identify their online risk behaviour. 848 students between the ages of 9 and 16 in over 21 schools across the country completed questionnaires containing over 100 questions on their use of the Internet.

This Education programme for 7 - 14 year olds focuses on the key Internet Safety issues that relate to use of the Internet by children in schools. As well as classroom and take-home activity sheets, this education programme contains online interactive lessons that use animated characters to demonstrate how to search safely and how to check that information they come across online is reliable.

   

Be Wise on the Net

Cyberbullying Poster
Developed in consulatation with the National Educational Psychological Service (NEPS), this poster provides practical advice to help post-primary students to cope with instances of cyberbulllying. The poster displays the web address of the NCTE's WATCH_YOUR_SPACE website which informs students of how to report instances to the website owners and authorities, it also links into the listening and support services provided by Childline.

This poster promotes responsible and safe use of the social networking and photo sharing websites for post primary students. It give practical advice to young web users on how to protect their personal informaiton when they are interacting online..
