Safer Internet Day 2026 Lessons

These lessons explore the Safer Internet Day theme AI Aware: Safe, Smart and in Control.

Additional Primary school lessons are available for use with 1st and 2nd class, 3rd and 4th class, and 5th and 6th class. The Post-Primary level lessons explore topics including News, Information and the Problems of False Information; Managing Your Online Wellbeing; Respectful Communication Online; Self-Esteem Online – The Full Picture.

AI Aware: Safe, Smart and in Control – 6th Class

This lesson will explore new and emerging technologies in our world, in particular, developments in artificial intelligence. It will give pupils an opportunity to learn about new technologies, such as Generative AI (Gen AI), the opportunities and challenges, and how to engage with them in a safe and responsible way.

AI Aware: Safe, Smart and in Control – Post-Primary

This lesson will explore the growing presence of Generative Artificial Intelligence, in particular AI chatbots, in young people’s lives including both the challenges and opportunities they present. It will encourage students to think critically about how they interact with AI technologies and to develop strategies for safe and balanced use. The presentation will explore what chatbots are, how they function, their benefits and risks, and the importance of human relationships in the age of AI.

Tech in Our World – 5th and 6th Class

The Tech in Our World presentation provides an opportunity to reflect on tech in our world, the challenges and opportunities. Recognise the influence of persuasive design features and algorithms on our online experiences, and learn tips to help reset our online experiences to promote a positive impact on our time online.
